When can I sign up for GCPW Football?

Registration dates for the 2016 Season will be April 9th, May 7th, June 11th, July 9th and July 16th. 

Is online registration available?

What is the cost of Football?


Tackle football is $225 at early registration on April 9, 2016 and $250 at the May, June and July Registrations.


$25 Family Discount on Each Additional Child Registration


In addition to registration costs each team will have fundraisers, events (like car washes) or seek sponsors to raise additional fees needed to offset the cost of equipment, Lights, Fields, Officials and other expenses. The amount the team needs to raise by fundraisers or sponsors are provided to the Head Coaches prior to the season starting so that the teams will be able to plan.

What should I bring to registration?

You will need to bring the following items with you to registration:

  • Copy of your original Birth Certificate
  • Current Full year report card (all four quarters or both semesters) If you are registering before the school year is completed you will need to bring prior to your first practice.

The following form will be available at the registration events but you can print and complete prior to registration to save time and speed up the registration process.

  • Player Contract
  • Arizona Physical Form

If you choose to have your personal physician complete your child's physical be sure to take our form to be completed. We do have a doctor at every registration event and for $25 you can have your physical completed the day of registration.

What does my registration fees cover?

Registration fees cover the use of issued equipment and insurance for each participant. In addition, it also helps cover the cost of background checked staff, trained coaches, game day costs (4 referee's for every game), lighted fields for practices, first aid equipment, medical trainers at every game, baseline concussion test for those of the developed age, field rentals,  and other related cost for the purpose of the full season.

Registration fees do not cover all of the leagues expenses and each team is required to do fundraising during the season. Each Head Coach will go over this with their team prior to the start of the season.

Is equipment included in registration fees or are they additional?

The following pieces of equipment are provided in the cost of the registration:

  • Helmet
  • Shoulder pads
  • Game Jerseys
  • mouth piece

Players are responsible for:

  • Compression shorts
  • Cleats
  • Practice pants and jersey

Why do you ask for my child's report card?

Pop Warner Football and Cheer is the only national youth sports organization that recognizes academics and other extra curricular activities as well as athletics. The Little Scholar Award Program uses the current year report card to qualify the students as well as determining eligibility to participate in this organization.

What are the dates for the football season?

Our football season runs from August to December. Practices typically begin on the first Monday of August with the first games beginning at the end of August. The season ends in November unless you advance to Regionals and Nationals.

do all teams travel to regional and nationals if they win state?

No not all teams that win state will be able to travel and participate at Regional and National Playoffs and Championship Games.

  • D2 JPW, PW, JM and Unlimited Teams are eligible to advance to Regional Playoffs and Championship games if they win State Titles. If they win Regional Championship title they are eligible to travel to Orlando Florida for National Playoffs and Super Bowl.
  • D3 JPW, PW, JM and Unlimited Teams are eligible to advance to Regional Playoffs and Championship games if they win State Titles. If they win a Regional Title they do not advance to Nationals.
  • MM teams are eligible to participate in State Titles but do not advance beyond State.
  • TM teams do not participate in State Championship games but they do participate in an end of Season Arizona State Bowl Games.

Where are practices held and at what times?

For the month of August practices are usually at Crossroads Park, Discovery Park, South Valley Jr High School or Mesquite High School. After that they can change to any of the various Jr. high’s and high schools within the Gilbert and Chandler School District.

Practices are Monday through Friday for 2 hours in the evening, usually 6:30pm – 8:45pm during the month of August. Beginning in September the practices are held two days a week, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday still for the 2 hours.

Practices run from 6:30 pm - 8:45 pm due to mandatory water breaks. Each team is on the same schedule and all teams stop at the same time for water breaks.
